Davis Pharmacy experiences armed robbery By Heather Heimes
Plain Talk The Vermillion Police Department has released the names of the suspects being held in connection with an armed robbery at a local pharmacy. Matthew Doolin, 25 years old and Julie Doolin, 26 years old who both list their residence in Mountain View, AR, are being held on charges including first degree robbery, commission of a felony while armed, kidnapping, possession of a controlled substance and aggravated assault. Shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, the Vermillion Police Department received a report that a robbery had occurred at Davis Pharmacy in Vermillion. Information developed during the ensuing investigation indicated one male and one female suspect, both of whom were armed with handguns. â�?�?Around 9 p.m. a man and woman came in with pistols,â�? said Tom Lavin, owner of Davis Pharmacy. â�?�?They tied up Mark (Tokach) and Ed (Paquette) with tape.â�? â�?�?All they wanted was drugs,â�? Tom said. â�?�?Then they fled out the back door. Mark was able to get free, and he called the police,â�? who arrived quickly to the scene. The couple ran to a vehicle parked in the Jonesâ�?�? Food parking lot and sped off. â�?�?They knew what they were looking for when they came in,â�? Tom said. The investigation ultimately led to a North Sioux City officerâ�?�?s discovery of a vehicle matching the description in the North Sioux City area. Upon his attempt to stop the suspect, the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. Union County authorities ultimately stopped the vehicle and apprehended two subjects â�?�? one male, one female. Both subjects are being held in connection with the robbery as the investigation continues. Agencies involved in the investigation, in addition to the Vermillion Police Department, include the Clay County Sheriffâ�?�?s Department, Union County Sheriffâ�?�?s Department, Jefferson Police Department, Elk Point Police Department, North Sioux City Police Department and South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks.
