Obituaries Anna Marie Hanson Anna Marie Hanson, Yankton, formerly of Gayville, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the age of 104 years, 5 months, and 9 days. She was born Jan. 19, 1904 to John and Augusta Leitru in Wakonda township. She was baptized at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion. She married Clayton Varing in 1921. She later married Irving Hanson in 1951. She worked at Jacobsen��?s Bakery and also at The University of South Dakota, both in Vermillion. She was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, Meckling, Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star of South Dakota, Gayville Senior Center and Bergen Lutheran WELCA. She is survived by her step-children and their wives, Marvin and Donna Hanson, Anthon, IA; Clayton Hanson, and Verne and Bonnie Hanson, Yankton; daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Hanson, Tacoma, WA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Irving; her parents; her siblings; son, Burnell (Bud) Varing; daughters-in-law, Katherine Varing and LaVonne Hanson; step-son, Bub Hanson; granddaughter, Linda Covey; and great granddaughters Laura Brunick and Amy Covey. There was a prayer service Monday, June 30, at 7 p.m. at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, with visitation starting at 5 p.m. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 1 at 10 a.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church rural Meckling, with burial in the Meckling Cemetery.
