Reemts is employee of the month at USD

Reemts is employee of the month at USD Nancy Reemts, secretary in the division of Continuing Education, is the July 2008 Career Services Employee of the Month at The University of South Dakota. â??I had no clue,â? admitted Reemts, who accepted the award at a reception in her honor at the McKusick Technology Center on USDâ??s campus. â??I was totally shocked, but it was a wonderful surprise and it came at a good time.â? Reemts was nominated for the award by Laurie Becvar, dean of Continuing Education. Becvar noted Reemtsâ?? dedication as well as her professionalism and organizational skills in managing administrative responsibilities within the division of Continuing Education. â??Nancy has developed her phone skills over the years and this is her strength,â? Becvar stated in her nomination of Reemts, who has been an employee at USD since 2004. â??She maintains high quality customer service to students, staff and others who call continuing education.â? Reemts, who worked in a medical office prior to joining the CE staff four years ago, enjoys working in Continuing Education assisting students and faculty with a wide variety of issues dealing with workshops as well as online and correspondence courses. Even though she and the department seem to operate at a non-stop pace year-round, it doesnâ??t keep her from having fun at work or learning from a variety of people, including faculty, staff or students. â??Iâ??m not a person who believes age should be a deciding factor when it comes to education,â? she described. â??So itâ??s nice to be able to work in this environment and see people progressing and reach their educational goals.â? Reemts and her husband, Larry, currently reside in rural Jefferson.
