Russell Lilly Russell B. Lilly, age 69, of Vermillion died Friday, June 27, 2008, at Sanford Vermillion Hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1938 at Akron, IA, to Clare Lilly and Luella Russell Lilly. He graduated from Vermillion High in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as SP5. He served in Korea. He married Katherine Blair April 6, 1972 in Newport News, VA. Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of Vermillion; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Melissa of Yankton; brother, Richard Lilly of Sioux Falls; sisters, Mary Smith of Sundance, WY, Vicki Lilly of Park Rapids, MN and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Calvin and Johanna Russell. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at First Baptist Church, Vermillion. Officiating was the Rev. Shelley Aakre. Burial was in BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion, with graveside services conducted by Vermillion VFW Clay Post No. 3061. Visitation with the family present is was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the church. There was a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church.
