State BBQ championship coming to Vermillion Vermillion has been granted a sanction from the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) to hold the South Dakota State Barbeque Championship. The contest will be held in conjunction with the annual Ribs, Rods, and Rock��?n Roll celebration in downtown Vermillion on�? Sept. 5 and 6. The contestants will vie for�? over $5,000 in prize money competing in�? several categories including ribs, chicken, pork butt and brisket. The winner will also gain an automatic bid to compete in the KCBS national championship.�? The KCBS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque, is the world��?s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 8,000 members worldwide. KCBS sanctions almost 300 barbeque contests coast-to-coast throughout America.�? Along with the BBQ Championship, the two day Ribs, Rods and Rock��?n Roll celebration�? will feature a music fest with as many as 8 live bands, a classic car show, a motorcycle fun run, a beer garden, and a variety of vendors including many local favorites as well as national names in Famous Dave��?s and Jack Link��?s.�? Festivities begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 with a Ribfest style barbeque.�? Live�? music begins�? at 5 p.m.�? Rock powerhouse Judd Hoos will be the feature act for a street dance Friday evening. Saturday��?s activities will begin at 9 a.m. with the Motorcycle Fun Run registration and rib vending beginning at 10 a.m. People��?s Choice Barbeque judging starts at 2 p.m. with the awards ceremony at 4 p.m.�?
