The Bluffs Bulletin Board Living up to the temperature, the golfing that went on July 16 was HOT!! While the small breeze kept the temperatures from overpowering the golfers, the clubs were smoking. Leading the charge was Jenny Chandler. Jenny had a stellar round, carding four birdies on holes 4, 6, 7 and 8, on her way to a 32. Needless to say, that was the low gross score for the evening. With her handicap of 4, Jenny had a net score of 28. Mary Gauer had an exceptional round as well, with a 39. In addition, Ruby Plate had a terrific round, shooting a 40. That yielded a net score of 28 for Ruby as well (40-12). However, neither of these ladies had the low net for the evening. That was accomplished by Tammy Baisden who had a net 27 (47-20). In addition to the birdies had by Jenny, there were four others shot. Liz Merrigan and Mary Gauer each birdied #3. Mary Ellen Jensen birdied #5. Kathy Merrigan-Manning had a bird on #8. In fact, Kathy came very close to buying a round for the clubhouse, leaving the ball outside the hole by under a foot. In the â??otherâ? category, Robin Miskimins hit a bird â?? a goose, on #4. No damage to the bird, but it certainly shortened the roll. Winning the Quackson drawing was Mary Vlasman, just back from vacation. Not enough money to refill the coffers, but a help. Words to live by: â??Tee your ball high … air offers less resistance than dirt.â? â?? Jack Nicklaus
