Millage Madsen Millage Vernon Madsen, 86, of Wakonda, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 25, 2008 at Viborg Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Millage was born on a farm near Irene on Nov. 13, 1921, to Lauritz and Mary Madsen. He graduted from Wakonda High School in 1939. He farmed around Wakonda all of his life. He married Patricia Brown on Jan. 5, 1950 in a small ceremony at his parents��? home in Wakonda. In 2000, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. From this marriage, three children were born, Martin M. Madsen, Holly Madsen-Rowlan and Carol DeBates. Millage and his family resided one mile south of Wakonda on the family farm. He was a life member of the First Lutheran Church of Wakonda. He was a leader of the Hillside 4-H Club in Clay County, and was a lifetime member of the Yankton Elks Club. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Holly Madsen and Jeff Rowland of Volin; a son, Martin ��?Marty� Madsen of Wakonda; a sister, Angie Highstreet of Crete, NE; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Carol DeBates; grandchildren, Bucky, Jessica and Waylon; and a brother, Leon. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at Faith United Lutheran Church of Volin. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Wakonda. Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
