SDHDA to hold public meeting on funding programs

SDHDA to hold public meeting on funding programs You are invited to a public meeting to provide comments and suggestions for South Dakota Housing Development Authority?s (SDHDA) annual update to the HUD Consolidated Plan, the Housing Tax Credit Qualified Allocation Plan and the HOME Program Allocation Plan. SDHDA staff will also be discussing the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 signed by President Bush on July 30. The Consolidated Plan is the state?s five-year housing and community development strategy plan that includes a description of how the HOME, CDBG, ESG and HOPWA funds will be allocated. The HOME and HTC allocation plans are required by the federal government and developed and used by SDHDA as the basis for selecting proposed applications for the respective programs. This is an opportunity for the public to provide their comments, suggestions and ideas prior to drafting the 2009 Plans. The public will have another chance to provide written comments once the draft plans have been released in the fall. Persons interested in making suggestions for changes to the existing plans prior to the drafting of the new plans may do so by appearing at one of the public meetings scheduled for Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Aberdeen and Pierre, or by sending written comments to SDHDA, PO Box 1237, Pierre, SD 57501, by 5 p.m., Aug. 28. The Sioux Falls meeting will be held 1-3 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Ramada Inn and Suites, 1301 W. Russell Street. If commenters choose, they may send written comments on the CDBG portion to the Governor?s Office of Economic Development (GOED) at 711 E. Wells, Pierre, SD 57501. Notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that this hearing is being held in physically accessible places. Please notify SDHDA 48 hours before the public hearing if you have special needs for which this agency will need to make arrangements.
