Southeast Area Retired Teachers will meet Sept. 10 The Southeast Area Retired Teachers will hold their first meeting of the year on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Vermillion Public Library at 10 a.m. in the meeting room. Guest speaker Cleo Erickson will talk about â�?�?Miscellaneous Happenings at the Austin Whittemore House.â�? Rolls and coffee will be served. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month and program information will be announced by the calling committee each month before the meetings. Officers for the year are Pat Dusseau, president; Edith Siegrist, vice-president; Brenda Martens, secretary; and Marlys Stensaas, treasurer. Membership due slips will be handed out at the meeting. Local dues are $15. If you wish to join the state RTA it is an additional $15 or you can become a lifetime member. Booklets will not be sent out this year but brochures will be handed out at the meeting with information about the local unit and information about the state. Any retired persons from schools and universities are welcome to join us. The state RTA offered a bus trip for Sept. 22-25 which includes a scenic river cruise with lunch, tour of the new Guthrie Theater, and the Laura Ingalls Wilder musical among many other events. All seats have been filled on two buses. The state RTA is looking for members who would like to take over the planning of future bus trips.
