Between Fences exhibit opens at museum On Thursday, Sept. 25, the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit Between Fences opened at the W.H. Over Museum in Vermillion.�? Many people attended the grand opening program in Sletwold Hall that evening during which Professor Steven Bucklin from the history department at The University of South Dakota began the Thursday evening program series with This Land Is My Land ��? Memories. He shared some stories of the past in which fences played a part and encouraged audience members to share their stories, too. This coming Thursday, Oct. 2, Robert Schneiders from the USD history department will speak on Border River: The Missouri through Dakota in Sletwold Hall at the W.H. Over Museum at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Remember the other contests, the art and photo contests in area schools, an open photography contest, an essay and poetry contest, and the Paint a Picket Contest.�? These have been announced in earlier issues of the Plain Talk; more information is available at the Web site: www.betweenfencesvermillion.org .�? Due to popular demand, the school art and photo contest deadline has been extended from Friday, Sept. 18, to Saturday, Oct. 4. By then the Between Fences exhibit will be�? open and the W.H. Over Museum will be open until 5 p.m. every day. The Between Fences exhibit will run through Nov. 2. The W.H. Over Museum will have special hours for this exhibit and will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information call W.H.
