Joann M. Hawley Joann M. Hawley, 69, of Burbank, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at her home. Joann was born Jan. 22, 1939 in Elm City, to Loyal and Minnie (Styles) Brown. She grew up in the Elm City and Vermillion area and attended Elm City School. She married Wayne Hawley April 30, 1954 in Burbank. They farmed one mile east of Burbank for 45 years, before moving to Burbank in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Calvin Hawley; three brothers, Donald, Clyde Allen and Curtis Brown; and also one sister, Jessie Rasmussen; and brother-in-law, Ralph Rasmussen. Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Burbank; two sons, Mark of Burbank and Larry and daughter-in-law Lori of Elk Point; one daughter, Joyce Hawley and Scott Weber of Burbank; four granddaughters, Allison Jensen of Belle Fourche, Michaela Wright of Elk Point, Arika Hawley of Vermillion and Rebecca Hawley of Vermillion; four grandsons, Nick Hawley of Burbank, Harrison Hawley of Vermillion, Cole and Aaron Ruhaak of Vermillion; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Abigale, and Rachel Jensen of Belle Fourche and Elizabeth Wright of Elk Point; also one brother Jim, and sister-in-law, Roxan; two sisters-in-law, Doris Orr of Meckling and Carol Hawley of Pierre; 22 nieces and nephews and many many friends. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Vermillion, with the Rev. Sandy Aakre officiating. Burial followed in the BluffView Cemetery at Vermillion. Visitation began at 5 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Vermillion. Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion was in charge of arrangements.
