Sports Writer By Parker Knox Sports Writer The Tanager boys��? soccer team completed a two-weekend road trip to the Black Hills with a positive performance last weekend and now looks forward to a series of home games at Cotton Park. Coach Carlos Telleria��?s club stands with a varsity record of three wins, two losses and a tie as the season reaches its midpoint.�? The Tanagers go to James Valley Christian at Huron Friday night before facing a stiff challenge from Sioux Falls Christian at 11 a.m. Saturday at home.�? The junior varsity game will follow at 1 p.m. The varsity will also be home Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Harrisburg and next Friday at 8 p.m. against Huron, preceded by a JV game at 6 p.m. Vermillion closed its second weekend in the Black Hills on a high note with a strong performance in Belle Fourche where an 8-1 victory was secured.�? Tim Tigert, Levi James and Obed Sargento scored twice each, and Steven Deal and Ashton Bird each added a goal. The previous night Bird scored the Tanagers��? goal in a 5-1 loss to a very strong Sturgis team.�? Earlier that day Vermillion��?s young players played well in a 2-1 junior varsity loss to Sturgis. Over the Labor Day weekend the varsity team tied St. Thomas More in Rapid City, 1-1, with Marcus Sand driving home Vermillion��?s goal.�? The Tanagers also won at Douglas, 5-0.�? Tigert contributed a hat trick while Deal and Sargento each scored once. ��?What I value most in this team,� Telleria said this week, ��?is the enthusiasm, capacity to learn, effort, respect for the opponent, and commitment these players have.�?
