Sports Writer Vermillionâ�?�?s cross-country runners competed in their own invitational last week and continued running at Alcester-Hudsonâ�?�?s meet Monday. Here are the Tanager places and times from those two events: Alcester-Hudson Invitational Varsity boys: Vermillion had a�? team score of 63 good for seventh place. West Central with 28 was the team champion. Tanager places:�?  Brad Orr, 17th, 17:50.67; Nick Britten, 25th, 18:17.26; Alex Card, 27th, 18:19.76; Matt Hirsch, 41st, 19:17.73; Robert Osterberg, 45th, 20:00.64. Varsity girls: Vermillionâ�?�?s 43 points earned fifth place.�?  West Central with 17 won the girlsâ�?�? team title. Tanager places: Blair Gilkyson, eighth, 16:00.22; Morgan Hower, 23rd, 16:50.02; Sophie Nehlich-Arobba, 28th, 17:21.60; Ashley Brunick, 29th, 17:23.91; Hannah Nehlich-Arobba, 40th, 18:14.88; Jade Fostvedt, 42nd, 18:33.76; Jana Bye, 46th, 19:12.20; Cassie Donahoe, 48th, 20:15.85. JV boys: Jason Rasmussen, 17th, 16:27.75; SiChuong Huang, 24th, 17:16.82; Kevin Helenurm, 35th, 17:56.92; Joe Swanson, 51st, 19:43.26. JV girls;�?  Caitlin Britten, 45th, 21:04.67. Vermillion Invitational Varsity girls:�? West Sioux of Hawarden with 47 points edged Elk Point-Jefferson with 50 for the girlsâ�?�? team title. Vermillion with 72 was fourth. Tanager places: Blair Gilkyson, seventh, 17:31; Morgan Hower, 11th, 17:55; Ashley Brunick, 17th, 18:24; Beth Szymonski, 18th, 18:32; Sophie Nehlich-Arobba, 19th, 18:34; Hannah Nehlich-Arobba, 26th, 19:33; Cassie Donahoe, 29th, 21:07. Varsity boys: Sioux City Heelan with 15 points swept the boysâ�?�? team title. Vermillion had 68 points for third.
