The Bluffs Bulletin Board W.E.L.L ends
season with tourney The Wednesday Evening Ladies League ended seasonal play by hosting a four woman best ball tournament on Aug. 23 followed by a fun night on Aug. 27. The tournament was, once again, a great success. Thirty-four teams participated in the event coming from the surrounding area. Many of the women come every year to play in the tournament, citing the course, the friendly hosts and, of course, the terrific snack foods in the clubhouse. W.E.L.L. would also like to thank the following businesses that donated gift items for the tournament: Great Plains Therapy, the City of Vermillion, The Bluffs Golf Course, First Dakota National Bank, Vermillion, Bank of the West, Vermillion, First Bank & Trust, Vermillion, Vermillion Beauty Shop, Pamida, Floor Tec, Recuerdo?s, Darlis LaBahn, Noon ?N Cranny and Dayhuff Enterprises. For the fun night those in attendance played a two person, alternate shot format. Our trusty statistician, Darlis LaBahn, paired those present by handicap ? a low handicap player with a higher handicap player. All then scattered to various starting holes and played the full 9. The unofficial low score was a 43 by the team of Kathy Merrigan-Manning and Rhoda Grant. After the round, all golfers were treated to a dinner of lasagna made by Mary Ellen Jensen. In the effort Mary Ellen was assisted by her daughter, Joanne Ustad, who turned on the oven. Everyone looks forward to a new season and is encouraged to find and recruit new golfers for the upcoming summer.
