United Way Kick-off The United Way of Vermillion will launch its 2009 campaign with a hog roast dinner on Sept. 10. United Way of Vermillion has set its highest dollar goal in its history for its 2009 campaign according to Deb Christensen of the Bank of the West and United Way Board President. â�?�?We have made the decision to help even more people,â�? Christensen said. â�?�?Therefore, our goal for 2009 is to raise $1000,000,â�? she stated. The kick-off event â�?�? called â�?�?Going Hog Wild for United Wayâ�? â�?�? will be held at the Vermillion High School from 5:30-7:30p.m. at a cost of $5 per person. â�?�?The hog roast gives us an opportunity to thank the community for its continued support and start the new campaign with some good food and fun,â�? said Christensen. In addition to the hog roast, there will be free door prizes, music, entertainment, a raffle for use of the presidential box at the DakotaDome, and many other fun items. Tickets for the hog roast are available at the United Way office at 24 E. Cherry or from members of the United Way Board of Directors. Christensen also announced that Tim Tracy of Sanford Medical Center will be serving as the 2009 United Way Campaign Chair. â�?�?We are delighted to have Tim join the campaign and to lead our effort. He brings a wealth of talent and leadership to our organization and we are pleased he will be a big part of the 2009 campaign,â�? she concluded.
