USD soccer beats Northern State 1-0 The University of South Dakotaâ�?�?s Katie Quinones scored the game winning goal in the 36th minute to lead the Coyotes to a 1-0 victory over Northern State University Sept. 14. The contest was an evenly matched battle as both teams recorded nine shots, while NSU edged USD with six shots on goal compared to USDâ�?�?s five. Katie Quinones (So., Rochester, MN) scored her seventh goal of the season off a pass from Ashley Oswald (Fr., Sioux Falls, MN) to record USDâ�?�?s only goal, which came in the first period. South Dakotaâ�?�?s Quinones tallied two shots on goal while Sarah Halbach (Sr., St. Paul, MN), Sami Spokas (Fr., Aurora, CO), and Michelle Marshall (So., Des Moines, IA) each had one shot on goal. USD improves to 3-4-0 overall while Northern State now posts a 3-3-0 record. Jen Ogren (So., Raymore, MO) played all 90 minutes in the net for the Coyotes while recording six saves. South Dakota will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 19 against Indian University-Purdue in Indianapolis, IN at 7 p.m.
