USD volleyball earns win over MSU Moorehead The University of South Dakota earned a 3-1 win Sept. 5 over MSU Moorhead in the first game at the Golden Eagle Classic in Crookston, MN. The Coyotes improve to 5-0 overall while MSU Moorhead falls to 3-2 on the season. USD won the first game 25-22 and then lost the second game in a close battle by a score of 26-24. South Dakota finished off the match with 25-21 wins in games four and five. USD had four players record double digits kills as Laura Slagter (Sr., OH, Roseville, MN) led the way with 16 kills. Slagter had a team high .351 hitting percentage in the match with just three errors in 37 attempts. Kathleen Hruska (RS, Sr., Souix Falls) had 14 kills and a .275 hitting percentage while Heather Hult (Sr., MB, Davis) and Kristin Kritenbrink (So. OH, Gretna, NE) each added 13 kills. Four players also recorded double digit digs as well. Amber Kobus (Sr. L, Columbus, NE) led the way with 22 digs while Slager had 17 and Gina Baldwin (RJr., S, Mitchell) and Hruska added 12 and 10 respectively. Baldwin, Slagter and Hruska all had double-doubles in the match. Badwin had 52 set assists and 12 digs, Slagter had 16 kills and 17 digs, and Hruska had 14 kills and 10 digs. USD finished the game with a .278 hitting percentage and seven total blocks compared to MSUMâ�?�?s .253 hitting percentage and five team blocks.
