USD��?s Skelly named Great West player of week For the first time ever, a member of The University of South Dakota football team has been named as a Great West Conference Player of the Week. USD wide receiver Dan Skelly earned Great West Offensive Player of the Week honors after an outstanding performance in the Coyotes��? 31-30 loss at Southeastern Louisiana University Saturday in Hammond, LA. Skelly, a junior from Champlin, MN, hauled in eight passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the contest. His second touchdown, a 12-yard scoring strike from USD quarterback Noah Shepard, came as time expired at the end of regulation, giving the Coyotes a chance to win with a two-point conversion. Skelly has emerged as a favorite receiving target for Shepard, catching 20 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns in three games this season.�? Skelly is averaging 21.3 yards per reception and 142 receiving yards per game. After two straight road contests against FCS foes, the Coyotes return home to the DakotaDome Saturday, Sept. 20 to face Culver-Stockton College for a 2 p.m. The game is part of the annual Coyote Athletic Hall of Fame induction festivities.
