Teen: Payback, by Melody Carlson Vermillion Public Library Upcoming Activities The library will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13 in honor of Native American Day.�? Materials may be returned to the book and A/V drops located on the south side of the building.�? This is a legal holiday. The Fences Film Festival will be showing Rabbit Proof Fence on Wednesday, Oct. 15, starting at 6 pm. This video is set in 1931 and is based on a true story revolving around three aboriginal girls who are taken from their homes to be trained as domestic staff.�? They escape and set off on a trek across the Australian Outback. Young readers are invited to attend the Bunnicula Party on Thursday, Oct. 16 starting at 3:45 pm. The unique character, Bunnicula and his friends, Howard and Chester are creations of authors, Deborah and James Howe Word Games is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 1-4 pm in the Community Room.�? Young. adults and adults are invited to enjoy an afternoon of games such as Balderdash, Boggle, Password, Scrabble or Word Yahztee. The Young Adult Book Club is meeting on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 3:45 p.m. This monthâ�?�?s book is The Omnivoreâ�?�?s Dilemma, by Michael Pollan.�? Copies may be picked up at the library. Oct. 12-19 is Teen Read Week.�? This yearâ�?�?s theme is â�?�?Books with Bite.â�? Check out the Young Adult Reading Program book list in the library for great reading possibilities. The Vermillion Library Book Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 23 from 6-9 p.m. in the Community Room to review the novel, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, by Carson McCullers.�? In 1940, this author became an overnight literary sensation with the publication of this novel.�? Donna Gross will be leading the discussion of this book and accompanying video. Halloween Story Time and Costume Parade are planned for the week of Oct. 27 during the regular story times.�? After stories and songs participants will parade through the library to various trick or treat stations. Costumes and participation are not required.
