Forum will address economy ��?Will the present international financial system survive?� will be the topic of the Oct. 21 International Forum held at noon in Farber Hall. Panelists at this event, which is sponsored by the Beacom School of Business, include Dr. Ralph Brown (economics), Dr. Angeline Lavin (finance) and Dr. Srini Ragothaman (accounting). Moderator will be Dr. Benno Wymar (professor emeritus of economics). Are we facing the end of capitalism? Banks throughout the world have been bailed out by governments or absorbed by other banks (both domestic and foreign).�? Major businesses, such as General Motors, face bankruptcy, as does the nation of Iceland. Developing nations appear to be impacted the most. Even area businesses, such as a firm in Pipestone, MN and Norfolk, NE announced that they will cease operating at a loss of more than 200 jobs in both instances. These and other issues will be addressed.
