Sports Writer Vermillion��?s volleyball record in dual matches dipped below the .500 mark to 5-6 last week when Wagner dealt the Tanagers a 3-0 defeat. The Red Raiders won by convincing scores of 25-8, 25-8 and 25-16. Bri Brinkmann led Vermillion statistically with 19 digs, and Kayla Gale and Jenny Bye contributed nine and seven digs, respectively.�? Gale and Justine Sorensen posted four kills apiece.�? Sara Kjose registered 11 assists.�? Sierra Allen got credit for a blocked shot. On Saturday the Tanagers achieved a satisfying fifth-place title in a tournament at Lennox. Vermillion lost its opening game to powerhouse Elk Point-Jefferson but rebounded to defeat Tea Area in the consolation semifinals.�? The Tanagers polished off their day with a 2-1 triumph over West Central in the fifth-place match. Vermillion��?s next dual comes up at Madison on Tuesday, Oct. 7.�? It is the first of four straight matches on the road for the Tanagers, who won��?t play at home again until Oct. 24 against Dakota Valley.
