United Way adds new board members The United Way of Vermillion Board of Directors has recently added two new members. Greg Paquette, manager of the local McDonalds and Kirsten Compary, acting dean of students at The University of South Dakota have joined the UW Board. â�?�?We are very excited to have Greg and Kirsten join our Board,â�? said Deb Christensen of the Bank of the West and United Way Board president. â�?�?With recent departures from the board we are very fortunate to have such talented new members,â�? she added. Other board members include Dan Kenton of Pamida; Marcia Harnois of USD; Mary Merrigan of Sanford Medical Center; Lisa Ketcham of American Family Insurance; Cathy Colwell of SESDAC; Marylyn Harnois, retired; Laura Hollingsworth of First Dakota National Bank; Tom Stogsdill, USD Foundation; Virginia Talley, Vermillion School District; Art Mabry, City of Vermillion; Don Dahlin, USD; and Sheila Prosser of Broadcaster Press. United Way recently completed a very successful kick-off event and with a goal of $100,000 it will be supporting the following agencies in 2009: Senior Citizen Center, Sanford Visiting Nurses, Vermillion Public Transit, Beyond School Adventure, Big Friends/Little Friends, Boy Scouts, Center for Children and Families, Girl Scouts, Imagination Library, Vucurevich Childrenâ�?�?s Center, Parks & Recreation Swimming Less-ons, Welcome Table-Back to School, Red Cross, Safe Option Services, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Vermillion Arts Council, Veteranâ�?�?s Resource Center and W.H. Over Museum. The United Way of Vermillion was started in 1956 and has as its mission to raise funds for eligible non-profit agencies and programs.
