In her paper, Sinkey states that her experience at USD has been both personally and professionally rewarding. ?My journey into nursing will be life-long. I feel fortunate that USD has enabled me to secure a strong foundation.? Faculty were open to our feedback, willing to be flexible when needed, and encouraged us daily that we had it within ourselves to go as far as we wanted to. The faculty ?unlocked? many topics and encouraged us to ?open the door as wide as we chose to.? Sinkey stated. ?The faculty integrated technology to incorporate class interaction through hand-held audience response devices that provide instant feedback and through online case scenarios utilized for various topics throughout each of the semesters. The president of the organization praised Sinkey?s work. ?Cindy?s paper demonstrates her wisdom and maturity, and as one who already understands the advantage of striving for excellence, we look forward to welcoming her as a valued colleague one day, said NLN president Dr. Elaine Tagliareni, Ed.D, RN. USD?s nursing program is one of 17 designated NLN Centers for Excellence in the country. Only students from those schools are eligible for the award. The university?s program was first designated in 2004 and was awarded a continuing designation as a Center for Excellence for 2007-2010.
