USD soccer beats
York College 6-0 The University of South Dakota soccer team earned a 6-0 victory over York College on Friday afternoon in York, NE. South Dakota scored its first goal of the game in the 21st minute as Sarah Halbach (Sr., St. Paul, MN) put the Yotes up right away. Angela O��?Loughlin (Sr., Broomfield, CO) then added the second goal of the game in the 23rd minute of play. USD, who went into halftime with a 4-0 lead, scored its next goal in the 36th minute of play as Taylor Gray (So., Des Moines, IA) put one in the back of the next off an assist from Halbach. The last goal in the first half was an unassisted goal by Halbach. The Coyotes continued to build their lead as Katie Quinones (So., Rochester, MN) scored a goal that went over the keepers head in the 54th minute which was off an assist from Emily Maas (So., Denver, CO) Halbach capped off the game with her third goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute. Halbach is just three goals away from breaking the school record for career goals as she now has 32. South Dakota finished the game with 27 total shots, 19 shots on goal and three assists while holding York College to zeros across the board. USD now posts a 5-8-0 record while York College is 1-9. The Coyotes will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 17 against Drake University in Des Moines, IA at 7 p.m.
