USD volleyball wins in five The University of South Dakota volleyball team rallied to earn a 3-2 victory over Northwest Missouri State University on Thursday night in the DakotaDome. USD won the first game 25-16 before falling in the next two by scores of 25-18 and 26-24. The Coyotes however, made a stellar comeback winning the fourth game 25-23 and then went on to jump out to an 11-0 lead in the fifth game and won by a score of 15-2. With the win, the Coyotes improve to 14-1 on the season while the Bearcats fall to 6-12 overall. Leading the Coyote attack was Kristin Kritenbrink (So., Gretna, NE) and Kathleen Hruska (Sr., Sioux Falls) as each pounded down 19 kills in the match. Hruska had a team-high .318 hitting percentage. Heather Hult (Sr., Davis) also had a strong performance adding 10 kills. Gina Baldwin directed the efficient offensive, which had a .231 team hitting percentage on the night, as she tallied 57 set assists. Baldwin also had a double-double on the night adding 18 digs. On defense, USD had three players recorded double-digit digs as Amber Kobus (Sr., Columbus, NE) tied her season-high with 28 digs. Laura Slagter (Sr., Roseville, MN) added 16 while Baldwin had 18. South Dakota finished with 10.5 team blocks and held the Bearcats to a .172 hitting percentage.
