Arrests made following recent school burglaries On Oct. 29, Nathan Lacek, age 19, of Tea, and Ryan Forsstrom, age 19, of Sioux Falls, surrendered to the Clay County Sheriff's Office after warrants were issued for their arrest in connection to three separate burglaries of the schools in Wakonda and Irene. The Clay County Sheriff's Office has been investigating burglaries at the Irene-Wakonda Elementary School in Wakonda on Sept. 19, and again on Sept. 30. On Sept. 30, the Irene-Wakonda High School in Irene was broken into as well. The suspects stole several electronic items from the schools including cameras, computers and computer equipment. Subsequent investigation led to Forsstrom and Lacek and most of the stolen items were recovered. In Clay County, Lacek was charged with two counts each of third degree burglary, second degree intentional damage to property, and grand theft. Forsstrom was charged with one count each of grand theft, second degree intentional damage to property, and third degree burglary. Lacek was released after posting a bond of $5,000 and Forsstrom was released after posting a bond of $1500. The above charges are in relation to the burglaries in the Wakonda school which is in Clay County. Charges are pending in Turner County in relation to the burglary of the school in Irene.
