Construction Update

Construction Update Workers from D&G Concrete Construction Inc. and other contractors completed the following work on the Cherry Street project lat week: • Concrete curb & gutter, paving – North side of Cherry Street. • Traffic switched to south side Cherry Street – Plum Street through Dakota Street. • Sod complete for 2008. • Asphalt patching. Work planned for next week: • Paving – Dakota Street intersection. • Lights, traffic signals – Plum Street to Dakota Street. • Median work – Pine Street to Ratingan Strausse. • Striping – Plum Street to Dakota Street • Sidewalks – entire project. Discussion: • SD DOT, City of Vermillion, D&G Concrete Construction and all subcontractors have made the safety of USD students their number one priority. • Landowners responsible for damage to new sod over winter. • Last weekly meeting for 2008 will be Nov. 7, meetings will resume in spring of 2009. Miscellaneous: • A flagger with a "SLOW" sign will be on the job while the crew is working in possibly dangerous conditions. PLEASE slow down during these few times (yes, slower than 25 mpg). • As concrete paving begins – expect limited access. • Speed limit is 25 through the construction project. Speeding violations are and will continue to be issued during the construction season by the Vermillion Police Dept. Speed violation fines doubled in work zone. • DO NOT add, remove or relocate barrels, barricades, signs, temporary business signs, etc. on the construction site.
