I.D. Weeks Library at USD re-opens, normal business hours resume I.D. Weeks Library at The University of South Dakota is open to normal business hours Friday following an investigation by the USD Department of Public Safety and the Vermillion Police Department. At around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the building was evacuated, closed and searched for suspicious items after two students overheard a portion of another individual��?s conversation. After being notified of the cell phone conversation, library staff made the determination to call 9-1-1. Local authorities arriving on the scene evacuated and searched the building. Based on their investigation, it was determined to re-open the building Friday morning to regular business hours. ��?This was not a bomb threat, someone overheard a conversation,� said Phil Carter, manager of media relations at The University of South Dakota. ��?We have a responsibility to our students and our community to preserve a safe environment, so as a precaution the library was evacuated, closed and searched.� Students and staff were notified of the closing of the library Thursday evening through appropriate University channels.
