Local heroes The Vermillion Hy-Vee served breakfast to 126 local veterans Tuesday, Nov. 11, in honor of their efforts to ensure the nation's freedom. "This was a good way for us to thank them for their service," said Ron Avery, store director. "The best part of the morning was listening to them tell their stories of valor." This is the fourth year that Hy-Vee's 224 stores in a seven-state region has served breakfast to those who have served in the military on Veterans Day. "It's not often that you get to sit in the same room as 126 American heroes," Avery said. "This event just grows bigger every year."
