Quaye, Blount named players of the week Ko Quaye and Jeremy Blount, both members of The University of South Dakota football team, have each earned Great West Conference Player of the Week honors for the week ending Nov. 1, the league announced on Sunday, Nov. 2. Quaye (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) has been named the Great West Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Quaye had five tackles, a sack and three tackles for a loss from his defensive line spot as the Coyotes beat North Greenville, 63-0 on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Tigerville, S.C. For the season, Quaye is fourth on the Coyote defense with 34 tackles. He has six tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks, along with an interception. Blount (Fr., Tampa, Fla.) has named the Great West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Blount returned the opening second-half kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown and also added a key 33-yard punt return to set up a second quarter touchdown in USD's 63-0 win Saturday. Blount averaged more than 15 yards per punt return in Saturday's game. For the season, Blount is averaging 12.9 yards per punt return. USD now has had five individuals earn GWC Player of the Week honors this season. Cal Poly's Ryan Mole earned GWC Offensive Player of the Week honors last week. The Coyotes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 8 at home against Southern Oregon University. Game time is 2 p.m. at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
