Close matches On Tuesday, 21 golfers turned out for golf. There were some very close matches. The team of Harlan Schott, Jim Reed and Cleland Cook won the match over the team of Ross Kind, Don Baer, and Jack Doyle using a tie breaker after each team had a 33. It was a very exciting match due to the putting and approaches of Don Baer and Harlan Schott. Harlan sank four birdie putts, 25 foot on #4, 9 foot on #6, 17 foot on #7 and a 30 foot on the last hole #8 to keep the score tied. Don Baer sank a 17-foot birdie on #6, a 47-foot birdie putt on #7 and a 6-inch birdie putt on #8 after almost making a hole-in-one. In a three team match, the team of Turk Pilker and Dick Gregory placed first, Dave Raabe and Lloyd Helseth, second, and Dick Burbach and Louie Fostvedt placed third. Dave Raabe sank two long putts, a 30 foot on #3 and a 61 foot on #5. Turk Pilker had back-to-back birdie putts, a 15 foot on #7 and an 18 foot on #8. Jim Grabowski rotated on the match with the team of Alan Clem and Dave Zimmer winning over Elmer Mount and Guy Button. The team of Pat Doyle and Bob Lund won the match over the brother team of Robert and Al Solomon.
