Thune Announces South Dakota Community Development Organization to Receive Federal Assistance WASHINGTON, DC – Senator John Thune announced today that the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund has awarded $80,000 to Dakotas America, LLC, a community development corporation which makes equity investments in businesses and community infrastructure projects with economic development potential. "Today more than ever there is a need for the wise use of capital investment in economic development," said Thune. "Dakotas America, LLC gives communities the assistance they need to build infrastructure and create jobs while giving South Dakotans the opportunity to invest in our future." The assistance is authorized under the New Markets Tax Credit program, which is administered by the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, a division of the U.S. Treasury Department. Dakotas America competes annually with other community development entities nationwide for funding.
