Veterans will be honored Tuesday Local veterans' organizations invite the public to participate in a special Veterans Day observance 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the W.H. Over Museum in Vermillion. The program will include a welcome from Roger Kozak, commander of American Legion Post 1, Vermillion, the posting of colors by the USD ROTC, and flag raising by Darrell Christopherson. The pledge of allegiance will be lead by Erna Carlson, followed by an invocation by the Rev. David Hussey, an explanation of military items on display by the museum staff, and a reading by Mildred Herren of the American Legion Auxiliary. The speaker at the program is Eldon Nygaard, W4, U.S. Army, retired. The Battle Hymn of the Republic will be performed by a men's chorus, accompanied by Max Leget. Fern Morse will give a reading, and following the benediction by Rev. Hussey, Sue Paquette will sing God Bless America. The program will conclude with a Color Guard salute and the playing of Taps. The ROTC will then retire the colors and Commander Kozak will dismiss the program. All are welcome to enjoy refreshments after the program served by the local American Legion Auxiliary.
