Grimsley reaches 1,000 career points Dylan Grimsley, a senior forward on The University of South Dakota men's basketball team, became the 38th Coyote men's player to reach 1,000 points for his career in USD's 93-61 win over Chadron State on Dec. 6. Grimsley (Sr., Sioux City, IA) scored 10 points in the win and now sits at 1,007 for his Coyote career. Grimsley eclipsed 1,000 with his basket with 17:02 left in the game against Chadron. Grimsley entered the season 911 career points, which he amassed in just two seasons as a Coyote. He is averaging 10.7 points per game in 2008-09. Grimsley also is closing in on another feat. He is at 408 rebounds for his career, leaving him just 92 short of reaching 500 for his career. When he reaches that plateau, he will be the 18th Coyote to have 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career. Grimsley is one of two current Coyote players with more than 1,000 career points. Jesse Becker (Sr., Plymouth, MN) eclipsed 1,000 points late last season and is now at 1,115 for his USD career.
