Tigers defeat Tanager JV
in season-opener Dec. 12 By Parker Knox
Sportswriter The Vermillion JV girls sent Harrisburg to the free-throw line 19 times, and the Tigers responding by making 13 en route to a 35-23 win in the season opener Dec. 12. ?We played pretty good defense, but we need to cut down our our fouls, JV coach Lori Jerred said. ?We missed a lot of easy shots, and our free-throw percentage was very low. The Tanagers found the range on only three of 13 free-throw attempts. Morgan Erickson with 10 and Carlee Sorensen with five were Vermillion's scoring leaders. Erickson also contributed eight rebounds and seven steals while Sorensen had 11 rebounds and Claire Jones three steals. The Tanagers outboarded Harrisburg, 37-31, but hurt themselves with 14 turnovers to the Tigers? six.
