Sponsored by the Senior Center Men & Friends. $4.00 requested donation. Everyone welcome! • Renowned opera singer Scott Piper, will be featured in a special performance on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. in Farber Hall, Old Main, USD. A reception will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Austin Whittemore House. His performance promises to leave all in attendance spellbound! Seating is limited and free to the public. Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Please call the VCDC office at 624-5571 to reserve your tickets, limit two tickets per household. This event launches the Vermillion Sesquicentennial Celebration! • Scenes from the Dreams of a Fortune Teller, an exhibit by John Banasiak, will be featured in the Main Gallery of the Warren M. Lee Center from Jan. 14 through Feb. 5. A reception will be Friday, Jan. 16 from 7 to 9 pm. The gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 5 p.m. weekends. Upcoming Events – Mark Your Calendars! • Book Blab at the Vermillion Library Community Room is Thursday, Jan. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Adult readers are welcome to come share their favorite authors and books and to discover some new ones with other book lovers. • National Music Museum's Brown Bag Lunch Program will feature Tatsuya Nakatani, a contemporary percussionist originally from Osaka, Japan on Friday, Jan. 23 from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. Nakatani utilizes the drum set, bowed gongs, cymbals, singing bowls, and metal objects in his creative performances. Free and open to the public. • Vermillion High School One-Act Play is on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the VHS Auditorium. • Fun and Games at the Vermillion Library is Saturday, Jan. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room. Engage in mental stimulation by playing board games and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Anyone ages 12 and up is invited to attend this enjoyable, wintertime activity.
