DENR offers chemical inventory workshops The South Dakota State Emergency Response Commission will sponsor two free workshops to assist businesses with completing annual Tier II chemical inventory report forms. These forms are required by Title III of the federal Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. The workshops will be held at 9 a.m. on Jan.12 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 16 over the Digital Dakota Network. The agenda and topics covered at the two workshops will be identical, so attendance at only one of the workshops is necessary. Workshop topics include spill/release reporting requirements, chemical storage reporting requirements, and detailed instructions for completing and submitting Tier II reports. The workshops are intended for businesses that store or use bulk chemicals and businesses that are required under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations to maintain material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for chemicals stored or used in the work place. The annual inventory report forms must be submitted to the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) by March 1, 2009. For more information about the workshops or completing the Tier II forms, please contact Trish Kindt with DENR by e-mail at Trish.Kindt@state.sd.us, by calling 1-800-433-2288, or by visiting www.state.sd.us/titleiii. The workshops will be broadcast over Digital Dakota Network sites in Aberdeen, Brookings, Madison, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Vermillion, and Watertown. Addresses for these sites are listed on the above Web site. It is not necessary to pre-register.
