Hero Despite Jan. 12's blustery weather in Vermillion, the Community Blood Bank's bloodmobile was kept busy throughout the day, collecting donations during the second annual "Heroes Behind the Badges" community blood drive. Members of Vermillion law enforcement and the Vermillion Fire Department competed to see who could recruit the most blood donors for the community's blood supply. The public was also encouraged to donate blood and designate their donations to the departments of their choice. Taking time to do just that is Dawn Swanson, who works in the x-ray department of Sanford Vermillion Hospital. All the blood donations collected Monday will help make a difference in the local blood supply and help save local lives. (Photo by David Lias)
