Raymond Farris An open memorial service for Raymond Farris, Vermillion, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan,. 24 at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home, Vermillion. He was born on Aug. 20, 1946, the son of Mike and Rosabell Farris, Vermillion. Raymond passed on Jan. 13 at his home in Vermillion at the age of 62. Friends and family will remember Raymond as a great outdoorsman. There were few activities he enjoyed more than waiting in the brush for a glimpse of a 6×6 buck on the opening day of deer season or trolling the shores of Lake Yankton for walleye or catfish. During his youth, Raymond developed a love of automobiles working as a mechanic with his father. This love culminated in a 40-year career as an independent mechanic. A veteran of foreign wars with a respectable service record, Raymond was a man of steadfast conviction who stood and lived by his beliefs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Debbie; sister, Mary Katherine; mother, Rosabell; father, Mike; and stepfather, Huss. Survivors include sons Michael of Portland, OR and Troy, Vermillion; daughter, Kim Cameron, Yankton; sister, Virginia Rowlands, Vermillion; and grandchildren Samone, Thaya and Chaleb. Raymond will be missed by many. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home at 402 East Main in Vermillion. Friends and family are welcome to attend the burial, to directly follow the eulogy, in BluffView Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Eagles Club at 114 West Main St., Vermillion.
