of the Month named First Bank & Trust is pleased to announce Ji Wen Li and DJ Donahue as September Students of the Month. Both students will receive $100 scholarships from First Bank & Trust to reward their excellence. Li was chosen for achieving an outstanding academic record and for participating in numerous activities including: National Honor Society, Science Club/Quiz Bowl, Student Council, VHS Band, and All-State Band. Additionally, during her four years at VHS, she was the state champion in Lincoln Douglas debate which qualified her for the national debate tournament. Li is a National Merit semifinalist, Girls State Delegate, and National Peace Essay Contest state winner. Her VHS faculty member endorsed Li for being "one of the most proactive presidents of our National Honor Society chapter" and that she "has been a pleasure to work with." Next year, Li plans on attending college. Donahue was chosen for his academic accomplishments and for being active in numerous extracurricular organizations. He was noted by his faculty sponsor for possessing "strong ethical and moral values as well as for his creative talent." Next year, Donahue plans on attending college and enlisting in the South Dakota National Guard. Along with staying busy working for Jim's Lawn Care, Donahue also participates in Show Choir, Jazz Choir, and All-State Choir. His musical talents extend to band where he is a member of VHS's Pep Band. In addition, he runs track and cross country. Some of Donahue's other extracurricular activities include Suicide Awareness and the National Honors Society.
