Vermillion Public Library Celebrate Vermillion, 1859-2009 Celebrate Vermillionâ�?�?s 150 years of city hood by listening to a CD, Vermillion Sesquicentennial Kick Off Event: â�?�?Unchained Melodies.â�? This audio CD commemorates the kick off of a year of activities. The 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States, was Feb. 12th. The display holds books and collectables to honor this event. Each book runs for five days, Monday through Friday. Some genres offer selections every other week. Vermillion Public Library Upcoming Activities. â�?¢ Free tax preparation by certified community volunteers is scheduled for Saturdays on Feb. 28, March 28, and April 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. For more information, please call the library at 677-7060. The Vermillion Public Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16 in honor of Presidentâ�?�?s Day. Materials may be returned to the Book and A/V drops located on the south side of the building.�?  The library will reopen to patrons at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17. â�?¢ Enjoy an afternoon playing board games or putting together jigsaw puzzles during the upcoming Fun and Games Saturday on Feb. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the Community Room. View a movie and participate in a discussion during Februaryâ�?�?s Classics & Flicks scheduled for Thursday, the 26th from 6 to 9 p.m. The movie is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith and the discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Sharon Ross, a retired Vermillion High School English teacher. Also, on Thursday, Feb. 26 is a program for the upper elementary-aged students. The American Girl Party starts after school at 3:45 p.m. and runs to 5 p.m. Activities, crafts and treats will be provided.
