March 6 is deadline for Master Gardening training The South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service will offer Master Gardener training starting in April at the Southeast Research Farm. The deadline to register for the class is March 6. The classes cost $160 per person or $210 for two individuals sharing materials. To register, visit http://hortmg.sdstate.edu/and complete the registration form. Send completed forms and payment to Yankton County Extension office, 901 Whiting Drive, Yankton, SD 57078-3121. The Southeast Research Farm is located six miles west and three miles south of Beresford. The classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on nine consecutive Fridays between April 17 and June 12. The class includes more than 60 hours of classroom work. Extension specialists and educators will teach the classes, and participants are required to complete 50 hours of volunteer service to receive the Extension Master Gardener designation. For $500, participants can take the classes but omit the volunteer service portion of the requirements. Those who choose this option will not receive the Master Gardener designation.
