Marketing specialists to discuss
beef cattle and grain market outlook SDSU Extension Risk and Business Management Specialist Matt Dierson will be on hand to discuss the cattle market outlook at the SE Research Farm on Thursday, March 5. He will outline the current market status, give price predictions for 2009, share his thoughts regarding what is driving current prices and also lend his expertise on risk management strategies for the coming year. In addition, Alan May, SDSU Extension marketing specialist, will give his grain supply and marketing outlook for the 2009 crop year. The corn market and cattle market are very interdependent. Add weather patterns, ethanol production and South American grain and it can get very interesting. Look at 2008. The markets are very volatile and big swings can take place in a very short window of time. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at the SE Research Farm southwest of Beresford. It will conclude at 9 p.m. For details or more information contact Jeff Lounsbery at the Lincoln County Extension Office at 764-2756.
