USD women suffer 57-53 overtime loss The University of South Dakota's Bridget Yoerger made a lay-up with five seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, but the Coyotes came up short suffering a 57-53 overtime loss to Seattle University on Saturday night, Feb. 14, in Seattle, WA. USD falls to 14-8 overall with the loss, while Seattle University extends their win streak to nine straight and improve to 16-7 overall.â�?¨â�?¨ USD went into halftime leading 28-18 and led by as many as 15 in the second half. SU however tied it up at 38-38 with 6:56 remaining and then in overtime SU's Chelsie Morrison sealed the win after making two free-throws put the Redhawks up by four with 10 seconds left.â�?¨â�?¨ Bridget Yoerger (Sr., Hinton, IA) led the team with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Yoerger was 7-of-14 from the field. Annie Roche (RFr., Vermillion) added 14 points as she was 6-of-10 from the field.â�?¨â�?¨ Ashley Wiemann (Sr., Vermillion) and Jasmine Mosley (Jr., Bellevue, NE) each added nine points.â�?¨â�?¨ South Dakota finished the game shooting 42.3 percent from the field while shooting 35.3 from three-point range. Seattle was held to just 29.2 shooting from the field.â�?¨â�?¨ USD however committed 19 turnovers in the game while SU had just nine.â�?¨â�?¨ "Seattle picked up the defensive intensity in the second half," said head coach Ryun Williams. "We didn't handle the pressure real well." â�?¨â�?¨USD will be back in action on Monday in the DakotaDome hosting Houston Baptist at 7 p.m.
