Jones, Heim earn Great West
Conference weekly honors Two members of The University of South Dakota softball team have earned weekly honors from the Great West Conference for the week ending March 15, the league announced on Monday. Tagney Jones (Sr., Lincoln, NE) has been named the Great West Conference Player of the Week for a second consecutive week, while Cortney Heim (So., Plattsmouth, NE) was named the GWC Pitcher of the Week. Jones hit .412 in 10 games last week for USD (the award reflects results from March 9-15). Jones had 14 hits in 34 at-bats with two home runs, two doubles, a triple and 12 RBI in those 10 games, in which USD went 9-1. For the season, Jones is hitting .483 with two homers and 16 RBI. Heim had an outstanding week on the mound for USD, posting a 6-0 record and a save. In 38 2/3 innings of work, Heim had 21 strikeouts. Heim has a 9-1 record with a 2.00 ERA on the season for USD. USD (14-4) finished 11-3 overall on its Florida trip.
