Thaw Basketball Tournament The pairings have been determined for the Spring Thaw Basketball Tournament, which is being held on March 7 and 8 at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. The tournament features four schools who are transitioning members of NCAA Division I. In women's basketball competition, that includes The University of South Dakota, Seattle University, North Dakota and Houston Baptist. In men's basketball competition, that includes South Dakota, Seattle, North Dakota and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. The University of South Dakota women's basketball team received the No. 3 seed at the event and will face No. 2-seeded Seattle University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. The University of South Dakota men's basketball team received the second seed will play third-seeded North Dakota at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. In the other women's matchup, Houston Baptist will face North Dakota at 5 p.m. on March 7, while Seattle and SIUE will meet in the other men's semifinal at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Seedings for the event were determined by the head-to-head matchups between the four schools in both the women's and men's field. The winners of the two women's games will play at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, with the winners of the two men's games will play at 7 p.m. that same day.
