Poet to give reading
at Sharing the Dream Local poet and law professor Frank Pommersheim will read from his latest collection of poetry, East of the River: Poems Both Ancient and New at Sharing the Dream in Guatemala from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 22. The collection features poems that explore concepts of love, family, politics, East, West, and home. Copies of East of the River will be available for purchase and signing. Frank Pommersheim was born in New York City, but has lived in South Dakota for more than 30 years, writing and working extensively in the field of Indian law. In addition to his collections of poetry, he is the author of "Braid of Feathers (American Indian Law and Contemporary Tribal Life)" and numerous scholarly articles. "Sharing the Dream in Guatemala," located at 10 W. Main in Vermillion, is a project that promotes fair trade with cooperatives and small businesses in Guatemala. Sharing the Dream is committed to providing fair wages and employment opportunities to low-income artisans, which results in sustainable markets for their projects.
