United Way accepting 2010 applications

United Way accepting 2010 applications  The United Way of Vermillion is now accepting applications for 2010 funding. Each year the Vermillion United Way and its Board of Directors conduct a fund-raising drive to raise monies for non-profit agencies and programs.  To be eligible for United Way funds. an agency must be incorporated and operate as a non-profit, tax-exempt charity or under a local government agency, gifts to which are deductible by the donor for Federal Income Tax purposes according to the Internal Revenue Service Code subsection 501(c).  Agencies must also operate in the health, social service, recreation, character building, and/or cultural development fields.  Each agency must meet minimum program and management standards as defined in United Way of Vermillion's Evaluation Criteria.  Preference is given to agencies that have been in existence for at least two years.  The application deadline is April 30, 2009.  Application forms and materials may be obtained from the United Way of Vermillion office located at 24 East Cherry or by contacting the office at 624.5354.
