USD women wrap up season against North Carolina The University of South Dakota women's basketball team will wrap up its 2008-09 campaign with its biggest test of the season when it plays at No. 11-ranked North Carolina of the ACC at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 in Chapel Hill, NC. USD is 18-10 after splitting two games at the Spring Thaw Tournament last weekend. North Carolina is 26-6 after losing to No. 4-ranked Maryland, 95-84, in the ACC tournament semifinals on March 7. The remaining USD women's basketball games can be heard on BEE 102.7 FM. The broadcast will also be available on the Internet at www.usdcoyotes.com. USD and North Carolina will meet for the first time ever. South Dakota has an overall record of 18-10 after splitting two games at the Spring Thaw Tournament in Grand Forks, ND on March 7 and 8. USD lost to Seattle, 66-61 on March 7. Bridget Yoerger paced USD with 15 points, and Annie Roche added 12 points while Maggie Youngberg collected 11. USD cut a 14-point deficit to three points late but saw its comeback fall short. On March 8, USD recorded a 63-50 win over Houston Baptist. Yoerger had her 14th double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Roche added 14 points while Kara Iverson had 10 for USD. The Coyotes are averaging 66.4 points per game while allowing 57.6. Yoerger leads USD at 16.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Ashley Wiemann averages 11.3 points per contest. South Dakota is coached by Ryun Williams who is in his first season at the school. USD, with an enrollment of 9,291 competes as transitioning member of NCAA Division I level.
