Yoerger named to Academic all-America team Bridget Yoerger, a forward on The University of South Dakota women's basketball team, has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America women's basketball third team. It is the first-time Yoerger (Sr., Hinton, IA) has been named Academic All-America. It is her second academic honor of the 2008-09 season, as she was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine All-District VII Team earlier this season. Yoerger has compiled a 3.82 GPA while majoring in recreation management/health promotion and exercise science. She is having an outstanding season on the basketball court as well, leading USD at 17.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Yoerger is shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free-throw line. Yoerger also has 61 assists, 47 steals and 31 blocks this season. Yoerger has 21 double-figure scoring games and has led the Coyote women in scoring 16 times this season. Yoerger also had 14 games with double-figures in rebounds. USD is a member of NCAA Division I and is part of the Great West Conference. The Coyotes are 16-8 on the season and play host to Seattle University at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.
